Et quelques détails sur les deux héros inattendus de cette sélection, María Riccetto et Gustavo Carvalho, respectivement "Primera bailarina" et "Primer bailarín " au Ballet Nacional Sodre, le Ballet National d'Uruguay. Julio Bocca est apparemment bien décidé à asseoir la réputation internationale de la compagnie de Montevideo, depuis qu'il en a pris les rênes en juin 2010. En fait, le Ballet Nacional Sodre a une histoire assez ancienne, et cette troupe classique créée en 1935 a eu son heure de gloire durant la période 1940-1960, pour péricliter ensuite à l’avènement de la dictature militaire soutenue par les USA, qui perdura jusqu'en 1984.

MARÍA NOEL RICCETTO – Soliste principale

Maria Riccetto est née à Montevideo, en Uruguay. Elle a commencer à étudier la danse à l'age de 6 ans, et à 8 ans elle a intégré l'école national de ballet d'Uruguay. En 1996, elle a été admise au Ballet Nacional Sodre. En 1998, elle s'est rendue en Caroline du Nord, où elle a obtenu une bourse pour se perfectionner à la North Carolina School of The Arts. En 1999, elle obtint un contrat avec l'une des plus prestigieuses compagnies au monde, l'American Ballet Theatre. Elle y est demeurée en tant que soliste jusqu'en 2012. Elle a eu pour partenaire de nombreuses étoiles, telles Julio Bocca, Jose Carreño, Vladimir Malakhov, Ángel Corella et Ethan Stiefel. Elle a également travaillé avec des chorégraphes réputés, comme Twyla Tharp, Jorma Elo ou Benjamin Millepied.


Elle a été distribuée dans toutes les productions classiques figurant au répertoire de la troupe : Le Lac des cygnes, La Belle au bois dormant, Don Quichotte, Giselle, La Bayadère, Le Corsaire, Onéguine, La Veuve joyeuse, La Fille mal gardée, La Sylphide et Raymonda, ainsi que dans Il Ballo de la Regina, Ballet impérial, Thème et variations et Symphonie en Ut de Balanchine.

En 2010, elle a été choisie comme doublure de l'actrice Mila Kunis pour les scène de danse du film Black Swan.

En 2012, elle a participé, en tant qu'invitée, aux productions de La Veuve joyeuse et de Casse-Noisette au Ballet Nacional Sodre.

En 2013, elle retourne en Uruguay pour devenir Soliste principale au Ballet Nacional Sodre. Elle y apparaît notamment dans La Sylphide, Sinfonietta, Un Hamlet Russe, Le Corsaire, Le Messie, Le Lac des cygnes, Don Quichotte, La Bayadère et Coppélia. Elle s'est également produite lors de tournées nationales en Uruguay, ainsi qu'à l'étranger : Paraguay, Vénézuela, Brésil, Mexique, Colombie, Pérou, Chili, Espagne, Italie, Oman, Chine, Cuba, Israël, Thaïlande.


MARÍA NOEL RICCETTO – Principal Dancer

María Riccetto was born in Montevideo, Uruguay.

She began studying ballet at age 6 and 8 years old he joined the National School of dance Uruguay. In 1996 he entered the corps de ballet Sodre National Ballet.

In 1999 she received a contract to take part in one of the most prestigious companies in the world, the American Ballet Theatre. She has resided as a soloist in this company until 2012.

She has paired with many Principal Dancers such as Julio Bocca, Jose Carreño, Vladimir Malakhov, Ángel Corella and Ethan Stiefel among others and has worked with many renowned choreographers such as Twyla Tharp, Jorma Elo, Benjamin Millepied to name a few.

She has taken part in every production of the company’s classical repertoire such as Swan Lake, Sleeping Beauty, Don Quixote, Giselle, La Bayadère, The Corsair, Oneguin, Merry Widow, la Fille Mal Gardee, La Sylphide and Raymonda among others, as well as Balanchine’s Ballo de la Regina, Ballet Imperial, Theme & Variations, Symphony in C, and others.

She was chosen as Mila Kunis’ action and bodydouble, for the dance scenes featured in 2010’s motion picture, Black Swan.

In 2012 she participates as a guest stars in BNS | Ballet Nacional Sodre’s Merry Widow and The Nutcracker productions.

In 2013, she returns to Uruguay to join BNS as Principal Dancer, taking part in productions such as La Sylphide, Sinfonietta, Russian Hamlet, The Corsair, The Messiah, Swan Lake, Don Quixote, La Bayadère and Coppelia. She has also starred in National Tours across Uruguay, as well as International Tours, performing in Paraguay, Venezuela, Brazil, Mexico, Colombia, Peru, Chile, Spain, Italy, Oman, China, Cuba, Israel and Thailand.







GUSTAVO CARVALHO – Soliste Principal

Le Brésilien Gustavo Carvalho a débuté ses études de danse avec le professeur Jorge Texeira a la Compagnie de ballet Marcia Sampaio. En 2007, il part étudier au Conservatoire National Brésilien de Danse à Rio de Janeirio, auprès de Jorge Texeira, Thadeo de Carvalho et Henrique Talmah. La même année, il participe a plusieurs concours internationaux, tel le Prix de Lausanne, et se voit décerner le Prix de la révelation Danzamerica deux fois consécutives. A 14 ans, il intègre la Companhia Brasileira de Ballet en qualité de soliste. En 2010 il se produit, en tant que Principal, aussi bien dans le répertoire contemporain que classique.

La même année, il participe au Joinville Dance Festiva, où il récolte trois médailles d'or, et remporte également une médaille de bronze au Troisième concours international de ballet de Pékin. Entre 2011 et 2013 il se produit en tant qu'invité dans différents galas à travers le monde, notamment au Brésil, au Mexique, aux Etats unines, en Argentine, en Israël, en Colombie et en Chine.

En 2014 il tente sa chance au concours international USA/IBC, où il obtient la médaille d'or, ainsi que le prix spécial récompensant la meilleure prestation en pas de deux. En août 2014, il danse pour la première fois au Ballet Nacional Sodre, où il interprète le rôle de Basilio dans Don Quichotte. En 2015 il est nommé Soliste, puis Principal en 2017.


GUSTAVO CARVALHO – Principal Dancer

He starts his ballet studies at the age of 9 with Ballet Master Jorge Texeira at the Marcia Sampaio Ballet Company.

In 2007 he moves to Rio de Janeiro to study at the Brazilian Dance Conservatory, with Ballet Masters Jorge Texeira, Thadeo de Carvalho and Henrique Talmah. That same year he enters international competitions, such as Prix de Lausanne and is awarded the Danzamerica Revelation prize, two years in a row.

At the age of 14 he joins the Companhia Brasileira de Ballet, as Soloist. In 2010 he performs as Principal Dancer in classical and contemporary repetoire. That same year he enters the Joinville Dance Festival earning three Gold Medals, and also participates in the 3rd Beijing International Ballet Invitation held in China, receiving the Bronze Medal.

Between 2011 and 2013 he take parts as guest dancer in various Galas in different countries such as Brazil, Mexico, United States, Argentina, Israel, Colombia, China, among others.

In 2014 he enters the USA/IBC International Competition receiving the Gold Medal and a Special Prize awarded to the best dance couple. In August he dances with BNS for the first time, interpreting Basilio in the Don Quixote production. During 2015 he performs as Soloist for BNS | Ballet Nacional SODRE, and this year he debut as Principal Dancer.

Sur le site du Bolchoï, quelques annonces concernant le programme (provisoire) des deux galas (uniquement sur la partie russe).

Le Prix Benois fête cette année son 25ème anniversaire.

Un prix spécial "Une Vie dans l'art" sera remis à Marcia Haydée.

Le 30 mai a lieu le gala des nominés, assorti cette année d'un défilé des lauréats et membres du jury. Sont annoncés pour l'instant Joseph Walsh, du San Francisco Ballet, qui dansera avec Victoria Jaiani, du Joffrey Ballet, une miniature de Youri Possokhov sur la musique d'Ilia Demoutsky chorégraphiée pour l'anniversaire des Benois, Ludmila Pagliero et Mathias Heymann dans Other Dances, Léonore Baulac et Hugo Marchand dans le pas de deux de Roméo et Juliette version Noureev. Au programme également, des pièces/extraits d'Edvard Clug (Hora), Demis Volpi (Salomé et Jean-Baptiste), Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui (Didon et Enée) et Alexeï Ratmansky (Seven Sonatas).

Le 31 mai a lieu un second gala, conçu comme "le meilleur" de 25 ans de Benois. Sont annoncés, là encore pour le moment, Mats Ek et Ana Laguna dans la miniature Mémoire, Ivan Vassiliev et Maria Vinogradova dans un duo créé pour l'occasion, Iana Salenko et Marian Walter dans une création de Nacho Duato et un extrait de La Chauve-souris de Roland Petit, Marie-Agnès Gillot et Hugo Marchand dans un extrait de Signes de Carolyn Carlson, Tamara Rojo et Isaac Hernandez dans une miniature de Hans Van Manen, quatre danseurs principaux du San Francisco Ballet dans Variations pour deux couples du même Hans Van Manen, Alessio Carbone dans une pièce de Béjart, Léonore Baulac et François Alu dans Blake Works de Forsythe, trois danseurs de la troupe de Wayne McGregor dans un extrait d'Atomos, Lucia Lacarra et Marlon Dino dans une pièce de Maliphant, Olga Smirnova et Semyon Chudin dans le Grand Pas Classique d'Auber.

Victoria Jaiani and Joseph Walsh will animate the sculpture of Benois de la Danse

The jubilee gala on May 30 will be opened by Joseph Walsh, the premier of the San Francisco Ballet, and Victoria Jaiani from the Joffrey Ballet in Chicago, who last year performed the duet from Lan Lubovitch’s Otello alongside Fabrice Calmel. Victoria and Joseph will animate the sculpture of Benois de la Danse: they will present a miniature choreographed by Yuri Possokhov to the music by Ilya Demutsky, who have conceived this duet as a gift to the jubilee of Benois. The idea to “breathe life” into the prize’s symbol belongs to its author — Igor Ustinov.

Benois de la Danse-2017. The program for the upcoming gala concerts

During the press conference that was held in the Bolshoi Theatre on April 11, the organizers have explained in detail the program for the upcoming gala concerts, as well as providing some insight into the award ceremony.

Benois-2017 Prize For Lifetime Achievement has been awarded to an outstanding ballerina-actress Marcia Haydee and the Russin-Italian Prize Miroir de la Danse — to the Benois laureate, Etoile of the Paris Opera Ballet, Aurelie Dupont.

The ceremony will start with the defile of all Benois laureates and Jury members who will gather this day in Moscow.

The audience will also be treated to fragments from pieces signed by stars of contemporary choreography, including Edward Klug’s latest work, which was premiered recently in Dortmund, and two duets from legends — Salome and John the Baptist by DemisVolpi,as well as Dido and Aeneas, which is accompanied by Dido’s aria from the Opera by H. The gala concert on May 31 will feature a retrospective of Benois' stone miles in its 25-year history. Mats Ekand Ana Laguna will tell us about the life of a married couple in a miniature titledMemory. Two other prize laureates will present their pieces, made especially for the jubilee: Ivan Vasiliev is preparing a duet to the music by L.van Beethoven which he will perform with Maria Vinogradova; Yana Salenko and Marian Walter from Berlin will take on a new piece choreographed by Nacho Duato. They will also present a fragment from Roland Petit’sBat. Marie-AgnèsGillotand Hugo Marchand will perform a duet from Carolin Carlson’sSigns — a ballet that both ladies wonBenois prize. Tamara Rojo along with Isaac Hernandez will present a miniature choreographed by Hans van Manen, and 4 premiers dancers of San-Francisco Ballet will performVariations for two couples, the Benoiswined piece by him.Maurice Béjart’s choreography will be danced by the familiar AlessioCabone from the Paris Opera, and William Forsythe’s last work for the Paris Opera Ballet Blake Work troupe will be recreated by LeonoreBaulac and Francois Alu. Wayne McGregor will send us three of his company’s dancers, who will present a fragment from his ballet “Atomos”. Lucia Lacarra and Marlon Dino will perform a duet set for them by Russel Malifant.
