Someone has just posted a full hour of Nina Timofeeva's dancing in several roles.
She is SENSATIONAL.
When one has that kind of technique - what exultation!
Her renversés are full renversés and a sight for sore eyes, her menées a blur of speed, her elevation is off the charts, she turns multiple turns en dehors and en dedans, her grandes pirouettes in various positions are jaw-dropping, and at one point in those awful old shoes (super-low vamp, virtually no platform) she TURNS FIVE PIROUETTES.
This is 1964, USSR, folks - malnutrition, scarcely any protein, concrete floors in the television studio, ghastly uncomfortable shoes, poor ventilation, costumes with no stretch.
Some of the clips were taken when she was well over 40.
In those days, the days before leg-waving, the Vaganova School meant business. Just take a look at the muscles in that woman's back.
