This 2018 performance is doubtless a school-leaving performance from the Bolshoi's School in Brazil.
Pretty damn amazing. The Bolshoi may justly be very proud of its teaching in Brazil.
Leaving aside treacle-slow, spiritless recorded music and the fact that these are teenagers, NOT professionals, the dancing is overall in good taste (no splits, no leg-waving ...), thoughtful and really quite artistic.
There are issues with the way the Poet here has been instructed, but these recur in virtually every professional troupe today.
The Poet is not some Dame in Wolf's Clothing, but a Man fallen prey to Melancholia. His gestures should be almost as though weighted down, but never feminine. And it really needs to look like a Mazurka, with the little hops, please!
Perfection, in the Mazurka, Royes Fernandez (pupil of
Vincenzo Celli). Choreographic text not identical - but Fokine himself changed the text constantly.

This is not to suggest that one might fairly compare a 15-year old to Royes Fernandez, a huge star at the very height of his career. It's simply to say that one can learn a lot from such people.
Anyway, the Bolshoi School is quite the eye-opener.

Might I suggest that people who do not wish to read English, or are unable to understand its ironies, refrain from reading my English-language contributions to this forum?
Just for the record, here is an article I wrote 18 (eighteen, EIGHTEEN) years ago), entitled
The Barre and the Colour Bar
http://www.augustevestris.fr/spip.php?article26
or ponder the considerable effort I put into bringing Lauren Anderson to France to teach at Grigny, at the Centre de Danse du Marais, at the CRR de Boulogne-Billancourt in 2014 (I repeat, TWO THOUSAND AND FOURTEEN).
The Conservatoire at Grigny now has a dance studio named after Lauren Anderson, who was received at a parent-teacher-student reception there by the Mayor and by Edgar Solmi, the Conservatoire's director.
http://www.augustevestris.fr/spip.php?article327
The full brochure of her trip to France is on line. It includes a series of articles, many of which, BTW, were written by my er, "racist"self, on the history of black dancers in the great classical companies over the past century. Completed by a photographic exhibition I created and set up by at the Centre de danse du Marais, which remained up for something like six months and was seen by several hundred people.
In a nutshell, the persons who have just given vent to the above curious remarks about the author of these lines, owe me an apology. Full stop.
As it happens, I have been involved with the struggle over this issue for something like fifty (I repeat, FIFTY) years.
And I am not joking - this time.
To conclude, should my critics wish to actually DO something about the situation, and for example, bring Lauren Anderson back to France, allow me to add that I have so far been unable to raise the funds - her trip in 2014 was entirely financed by VESTRIS, and by Miss Anderson's generosity in agreeing to waive all fees for her teaching here.
VESTRIS will therefore gratefully accept financial contributions to bringing her back. We have been attempting to do this now for the past four or five years.
There are people who put their money where their mouth is. And I am one of them.

Même si cela fait mal de voir ces compagnies, en particulier US, s'enferrer dans l'inaction au nom de la "sécurité sanitaire", on pourra - d'ici au moins - se réjouir du retour prochain de la "saison numérique" du NYCB .
