Dance Magazine february 2008 is in book stores.


The cover is Svetlana Zakharova in La Dame aux Camélias, the new production by Asami Maki at New National Theatre, Tokyo last nobember.

This number carries the overview on the stages took place in 2007 in Japan, England, France, Germany, Russia and the United States with lots of photos, the 10 best dancers (each female and male) of the year selected by the readers of Dance Magazine (*see below), and also the news on Dorothée Gilbert named Etoile reported by Gérard Mannoni with interview.

Il y a quand même dans le programme de Tokyo un certain nombre de choses qui me plairaient bien à Paris...

Je ne sais pas quel crédit on peut accorder à ces classements, qui sont censés représenter les votes des lecteurs du journal japonais Dance Magazine. Toujours est-il que Mathieu Ganio est très populaire au japon, où il est apparu aussi dans diverses publicités qui l'ont fait connaître. Manuel Legris y a lui aussi acquis depuis longtemps une solide notoriété.

The rankings are the annual event on Dance Magazine. They say the ten best dancers are elected by votes from the readers, but it has never come out with how many votes they got.

As for Mathieu Ganio, here is his career in Japan:
