Le dernier numéro de la revue russe Russian Ballet, publie un interview de Tatiana Golikova, professeur de Masha Alexandrova.
L'on m'en a envoyé les lignes suivantes, traduites,
"It is not right for green new dancers to start learning the repertoire entirely through modern productions. Then they can never become true artists of the Bolshoi theatre. I am deeply convinced that the young generation must begin with learning traditional ballets. As Grigorovich used to say it is necessary to absorb the smell of wings, the smell of the legend and only then to try mastering new things.
"The contemporary repertoire puts pressure on different muscles than the classical repertoire. It frequently happens that the classical form of the body changes creating a problem for some dancers. Teachers have to apply a lot of efforts in order to bring the body into the required form, to pull the muscles lengthwise so that the beauty of classical lines would be observed. It is also difficult for dancers. In order to make their legs and feet look more elegant they begin to diet and as a result weaken themselves and can not perform. Eventually we lose artists."
