ですが、NYCBとのコラボレーションであることが判明しました～。

マッカートニーはオーケストラのスコアを書くこともあるそうで、今回は、NYCB芸術監督で振付家でもあるピーター・マーティンスが、1年ほど前のSABのファンドレイジングイベントでマッカートニーに遭遇した際、一緒に仕事をしたいと申し出て、以来話し合いを重ね、マッカートニーもバレエ公演に足を運んだりして、今回のコラボレーションが実現したそうです。 マッカートニーはバレエを見て、「まるで （スポーツの祭典である） オリンピックと芸術の出会いみたいだ」と評しています。
マーティンスによると、マッカートニーは作曲のほか、脚本も書き、振り付けについてのアイデアまで出した、とか。 また、オーケストレーションについては、作曲家のジョン・ウィルソンの協力もあったそうです。 なお、振付はピーター・マーティンス、タイトルは「Ocean’s Kingdom」、ラブストーリーとのことで、海の娘が大地の王の弟と恋に落ちるというお話のようです。 もちろん紆余曲折が描かれて、ハッピーエンドになるかどうかは観てのお楽しみ。 作品は45～50分ほど、1幕4場（？）で4～5のメイン・ロールがあり、40～50人が出演するようですね。 そして、第1場が木曜日にNYCBの現在の本拠地である the David H. Koch Theater で上演されると書かれているので、今日ってことですかね。 わぉ。 全編の初演は、9月22日のガラ公演だそうです！

今年のエテ・ドゥ・ラ・ダンスで2週間半に渡るパリ公演を行う予定のマイアミ・シティ・バレエ、2011-2012シーズンのラインナップが発表されています。 英国ロイヤル・バレエ注目の若手振付家リアム・スカーレットが、新作を振り付けるようです！ ロビンズ 「In the Night」 とバランシン 「Ballet Imperial」 とのトリプル・ビルで、来年1月に初演の予定。 ほかは、「スクエア・ダンス」（バランシン）／「牧神の午後」（ロビンズ）／「Liturgy」（ウィールドン）／「In the Upper Room」（サープ）、『ジゼル』（コラーリ／ペロー）、『コッペリア』（サン＝レオン）、『くるみ割り人形』（バランシン）、と並んでます。

The ABT tour program covers approximately the same - perhaps an even longer - period in this famous Company’s history. It includes 4 one-act ballets. Winding up the tour will be the veteran-opus Fancy Free (1944), the first and very famous, almost of Broadway stature, ballet by Jerome Robbins, created by him in close cooperation with the equally young - and then too little known - composer Leonard Bernstein (their cooperation would continue and resulted in the all-time masterpiece Westside Story). ABT will present another veteran-opus - Theme and Variations to music by Pyotr Ilych Tchaikovsky, created in 1947 by Balanchine for New York City Ballet, the other ‘top’ American ballet company of which he was the founder. True, the present ABT production, born of a wish to demonstrate its skill at interpreting Russian emigre Balanchine’s choreography, is much younger - 1986.
But the main attraction of the evening for a real balletomane will be the world premiere of Troika and the Russian premiere of Seven Sonatas. Troika (2011) is seen by its creator, Benjamin Millepied (he was the choreographer of the recent Oscar winning Black Swan), as a personal ‘homage’ to maestro Rostropovich. In bringing Seven Sonatas to Moscow, ABT gives our audiences a chance to see what sort of ballets Alexei Ratmansky, now ABT resident choreographer, is producing on ‘other shores’.

本家にも情報がありますが・・・
イワン・ワシーリエフがABTにゲストすることになったようです。 現在怪我療養中のエルマン・コルネホの代役としてになりますが、6月の 『明るい小川』 のピョートル役と、『コッペリア』 のフランツ役での出演です。 すごい話題になりそうですよね～。

少し前にエルマン・コルネホの怪我については報じられてたのですが、もしかしたら復帰までに時間がかかるのかもしれないです。 7月には日本公演がありますけど、どうでしょう。 そもそもABTは来るのか、という心配もありますが。。。

NYでのホセ・カレーニョのABT退団公演について、記事やスライドショーがいくつかあります。 アップしなくちゃと思いながらも手が回らなかったのですが、そうこうしているうちに、ジャパンアーツがまとめてお知らせくださっています。

カレーニョの退団公演は 『白鳥の湖』。 オデットをジュリー・ケント、オディールをジリアン・マーフィーが踊り、さらには、今はNYCBプリンシパルでかつての同僚ホアキン・デ・ルースが王子の友人ベンノ役でゲスト出演したそうです。 マッケンジー版の特徴である、第3幕に美しい姿でオディールを伴って登場するフォン・ロットバルト役はデイヴィッド・ホールバーグ。 この第3幕は非常に盛り上がったようですね～。 黒鳥のグランのコーダでは、マーフィーが4回転、5回転を盛り込んだフェッテを見せれば、カレーニョも美的なテクニックで応酬、と同時に、運命の人に出会った歓喜を存分に表現していたそうです。 ちなみに、王妃を演じたのは、スーザン・ジャフィー。 つい数年前まで（？） カレーニョとはよくパートナーを組んでいたABTの元プリンシパルです。 ゴージャスなキャスティング！
さて、デイヴィッド・ホールバーグはこの公演のあと、怪我のため残りの公演を降板しています。 そのため、キャストが玉突きで変更になって、先週木曜日に退団公演を終えたカレーニョが、急遽土曜日の昼公演でもう一度舞台に立ったのだそうです。 さらには、ロンドンでの 『ロミオとジュリエット』 を目前に控えるナターリア・オーシポワが、一昨日の 『眠れる森の美女』 を降板。 組む予定だったホールバーグも出演できずということで、アリーナ・コジョカルとヨハン・コボーが再びABTに登場したのだそうで～す。
それから、本家に Enya さんが、「プリンシパルのミシェル・ワイルズが、退団した」 というようなことを書かれているのですが、私の読み間違いでしょうか。
ともかく、デイヴィッド・ホールバーグの怪我が早く良くなることをお祈りします。 真剣に。 日本公演に間に合うだろうか。。。

アメリカ・コロラド州の Vail （世界最大のスキー場があるところ） で、Vail International Dance Festival が8月13日まで開かれているのですが、このフェスティバルのアーティスティックディレクターを務める元NYCBプリンシパルのダミアン・ウォーツェルとNYCB芸術監督ピーター・マーティンスにより、「The Male Dancer by Balanchine」 と題した実演付き公開講座が、フェスティバルのイベントの一環として行われました。 それをNY Times紙の Alastair Macaulay氏が記事にしています。 スライドショー付き。

Beaver Creek, Colo. — When the choreographer George Balanchine was running New York City Ballet, there were two sides to being one of his male dancers. Much of the time, as successive men have related, it was as if they just weren’t there. Sometimes, when teaching, he was so focused on exclusively female exercises that he omitted to give the men anything to do until they reminded him of their presence.
Whether or not “Mr. B.” ever said “Ballet is woman,” he meant it. His male dancers were mostly there as part of a chivalrous and entirely heterosexual society in which women reigned.
But when Balanchine made dances for men, the picture changed. “Suddenly we did exist,” as one dancer told me when Balanchine created “Kammermusik No. 2,” with its all-male corps de ballet. And many of those Balanchine roles for men were without precedent or equal. |
