Citation: |
Colau will perform the part of Peter/The Nutcracker for the first time on Dec. 21. The demanding role caps two years with the company in which Colau has risen from the corps de ballet to second soloist.
He has never failed to make an impression on stage, whether he's making a comic statement, as in his foppish dancing master in Cinderella, or taking on a devilishly precise pas de deux with Jennifer Fournier in last month's production of George Balanchine's Stravinsky Violin Concerto.
"I think I like being on stage," he says, choosing his English words carefully. "I like when we have to tell a story and play with our makeup, costumes, hair. It's not just about dancing, it's about the show." |
