Il n'y aura pas que le Bolchoï qui sera aux States cet automne :
Le ballet de l'Opéra de Lyon entamme le 22 septembre une tournée américaine qui le conduira à Seattle, Davis, Portland, Los Angeles, Santa Barbara, Minneapolis, Iowa City et Chicago. Fin de la ballade le 16 octobre 2004. Au programme, Jiri Kylian, William Forsythe et Russel Maliphant.
Le Ballet Biarritz traversera aussi l'Atlantique pour présenter, au Lincoln Hall de Portland, un "Hommage aux Ballets Russes", avec à l'affiche L'Après Midi d'un faune, Pulcinella, Le spectre de la rose et le Boléro de Ravel.
Représentations les 21, 22 et 23 octobre 2004.
Apparemment, on est plus fâchés avec Bush, ou alors, nos danseurs sont envoyés pour préparer le terrain si c'est Kerry qui est élu en novembre

Succès, apparemment, pour la tournée du ballet de l'Opéra de Lyon aux USA. Le spectacle d'ouverture, qui se déroulait à Seattle, a été bien accueilli par la presse locale, même si le critique du Seattle Post Intelligencer a été quelque peu déroutée :

Petite déception tout de même, car la Symphonie de Psaumes de Jiri Kylian a été remplacée par Jardi Tancat, de Nacho Duato.

Et un article tout à la gloire de Yorgos Loukos, le directeur du Ballet de l'Opéra de Lyon, dans The Oregonian.
"Détail" intéressant, dans The Oregonian, le Ballet de l'Opéra de Lyon est présenté comme "the contemporary French company"...

Apparement, le Ballet de l'Opéra de Lyon a fait un tabac lors des représentations à UCLA, si l'on en croit la critique du San Francisco Chronicle, reprise sur le site de la célèbre université américaine :

Même son de cloche dans le Santa Barbara News Press, avec en prime, un portrait élogieux de Yorgos Loukos, le directeur de la compagnie.

Stagnating artistically, the company was underfunded and uninspired. Critique beaucoup plus développée dans Dance View Times, où Rita Felciano déplore un changement de dernière minute intervenu dans le programme : Un Ballo (Kylian) et Jardi Tancat (Duato) sont venu remplacer Symphony of Psalms de Kylian :

La tournée du Ballet de l'Opéra de Lyon aux USA semble avoir remporté un franc succès. Les dernières représentations ont eu lieu les 15 et 16 octobre au Music & Dance Theater de Chicago, avec au programme Second Detail (Forsythe), Critical Mass (Maliphant)et Symphony of Psalms (Kylian).
Le critique du Chicago Tribune, Sid Smith ne tarit pas d'éloges :

Director Yorgos Loukos clearly runs a tight ship, demanding and getting top-notch professionalism.
